TurronOS

TurronOS is an operating system developed by Turron Technologies for x86, x86_64, PowerPC, and ARM platforms. It is known for its inclusion on the TurronTech PC. It bears similarity to Linux or Unix, and takes UI design inspiration from BeOS, Windows, and OS/2.

There are desktop, server, and mobile versions of TurronOS.

Out of the box, it includes (but is not limited to) a terminal emulator, a file manager, an image editor and text editor, a web browser, a media player, a desktop hypervisor, and a full office suite. It contains compatibility tools to run programs written for Linux, DOS and Windows.

Criticism

A percentage of users (citation needed) have criticized TurronOS for having a dated user interface. "The OS is pretty good, but the UI looks like it hasn't been updated since 2000." said one user.

Most people who use TurronOS cite the old-style UI as being one of their reasons for using the OS. "It's great to finally have a break from the flat design of Windows and GNOME, I love the retro interface of TurronOS." said a self-proclaimed "TurronTech Fanatic" in a review for the OS.

Turron Technologies reports that there are currently no plans to change the UI design language. "Part of our brand is retro design! Hell, we're the only company still making consumer-grade CRT monitors! The retro GUI is here to stay, even if we try to modernize it a bit more." said Joshua.
